\nBewegGrund (CH): FOREST<\/strong><\/p>\n

None of us need fixing \u2013 but all of us, at times, need help.<\/strong><\/p>\n

FOREST<\/strong> draws inspiration from the world of plants and ecology \u2013 from the interconnection between organisms and between organisms and their environment. This is a meditative dance performance that explores themes of dependence and independence, interdependence, and the act of giving and receiving help.<\/p>\n

Who do we think needs our help? Who do we see as fully capable? What assumptions do we make about others \u2013 and about ourselves? How do we read other people\u2019s bodies \u2013 what do we see, and what remains invisible? How do we ask for help, and how do we offer it? These are the central questions shaping the structure and sensitivity of this performance.<\/p>\n

Annie Hanauer<\/strong> grew up in the US and earned her BFA in Dance from the University of Minnesota. Now based in London, since 2013 she has performed and collaborated with artists including Rachid Ouramdane, Emanuel Gat Dance, Lea Anderson, Nic Conibere, Boris Charmatz, and Candoco Dance Company. She is currently touring internationally with her own piece, A Space for All Our Tomorrows<\/em>, which explores utopia through the lens of disability. She has choreographed works for Ramped, Mobius Dance, Zurich University of the Arts, University of Minnesota, and Candoco Dance Company.<\/p>\n

Annie\u2019s work is grounded in collaboration and inclusive artistic practices, challenging dominant perceptions of the dancing body through her own experience as a disabled artist, and exploring creativity and sustainability in bodies considered \u201cdifferent.\u201d<\/p>\n

BewegGrund<\/strong>, a Swiss inclusive dance company founded in 1998, seeks to deepen understanding and expand interest in inclusive dance. Today, the company works with a wide range of choreographers, performs internationally, and organizes workshops for both the general public and professional artists, as well as hosting its own dance festival.
